Craig Charles Brandt

Craig Charles Brandt, 54, of Victoria, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, in Chaska, Minn. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria. Casket bearers were Amanda Schneider, Nicole Gibson, Pam Caley, Casi Roethler, Mitchell Brock, Jake Brock, Ryan Murphy and Scott Schmitt. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Craig was born March 25, 1961, in Oelwein, to Vernon and Loretta (Shannon) Brandt. Craig attended school at Waverly-Shell Rock and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. Craig was married to Kay Schmitt Oct. 10, 1987, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.
After working with several construction firms, Craig started his own residential construction company and worked as a licensed contractor to present. Hunting, golf, softball and watching Iowa Hawkeye sports were all favorite pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; children Zachary and Kaitlin, Victoria, Minn.; his mother, Loretta, of Waverly; parents-in-law, Elmer and Dorothy Schmitt, Fort Atkinson; brothers, Gary (Michelle) Brandt, Waverly and Alan (Tammy) Brandt, Hampton; sisters, Linda (Brian) Gibson, West Union and Karla (Tim), Marion; brothers-in-law, Ron (Jane) Schmitt, Fort Atkinson and Ken (April) Schmitt, Fort Atkinson; sister-in-law, Betty Murphy, Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father, Vernon Brandt.
