Colleen Gehling

A lifelong resident of Cresco, Colleen Sue (Queel) Gehling was born on May 14, 1942, to George Abraham Queel and Vera Esther (Halweg) Queel, and passed to her eternal rest on Sept. 18, 2022.

Colleen attended Cresco Public School. Colleen and Vincent Joseph Gehling were married in Cresco on Jan. 23, 1960. Colleen enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, church volunteer work, and card club.

Colleen is survived by husband Vince, daughter Denise Gehling (Jason Wolcott, Tipton, IA), son David Gehling (Teresa Barta Gehling, Decorah, IA), son John Gehling (Sarah Gehling, Cresco, IA), and son James Gehling (Decorah, IA). She leaves behind seven grandchildren: Sara, Katie, Haley, Matthew, Nicholas, Mark, and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her parents and other extended family. Although an only child, Colleen was blessed with aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom she, her husband, and children were close.  While many of these extended family members are no longer with us, they remain near in our hearts.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Friends may call for one hour prior to services at the church. For those wishing to, a brief graveside service will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Family and friends are encouraged to enjoy a catered meal in the church’s lower-level social hall where they will be joined by the immediate family following the graveside service.
