CHARLES WILHELM, 82, of Decorah, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center, in Cresco. Memorial services are at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main Street, Decorah, with Rev. Phil Gibbs presiding. Burial is in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, Bluffton. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m., at the church Friday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is handling the arrangements. Memorials in memory of Charles may be sent to his sister: Virginia Homewood, 2449 Teresa Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Charles is survived by his sister, Virginia Homewood, Cedar Rapids; and Mary Bentley, Cedar Rapids; along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wilhelm in 1963 and Catherine (Wichman) Wilhelm in 1981; five sisters: Betty (Ed) Troxel, Florence (Phil) Blong, Adeline (Arnold) Sobolik, Alma (Leo) Baum and Dorothy Wilhelm as a child; one brother, Art (Sadie) Wilhelm; special friend, Linda Winden.
