Cecelia “Ann” Collins died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Winneshiek Medical Center after a brief illness. A celebration of Ann’s life was at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, at Wellington Place, 2479 River Road, Decorah, with Rev. Melissa Bills presiding. Recorded music was “Amazing Grace” and “On Top of The Mountain.”
Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Galena, Ill.
Ann was born in Dubuque June 19, 1941, to Elmer and “Dolly” (Elizabeth Wellendorf) Collins. If you ever met Ann, she would not forget you. She was a friend to everyone and always had a compliment to share. She had a special talent of remembering names and birthdays of every person she met. She loved calling in birthdays to 100.5 and was a wonderful joy to be around. Ann will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Ann is survived by her guardians, Ruth Ann and Kevin Kearney, as well as her beloved family at Wellington Place along with many cousins and her family pets Sheldon, Zoey, Maggie, Ireland and Odie.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas; her guardians, Stella and Ralph Hammel; and many aunts and uncles.
A sincere thank you to the residents and staff at Wellington Place for their care and love. Thank you to Winneshiek Medical Center Staff and Dr. Wymer for her care and understanding during this difficult time.
Ann’s favorite activity was spending time petting the cats at NEIHS. Because of her love for animals, we request memorials be made to Northeast Iowa Humane Society, 2345 Millennium Road, Decorah, IA 52101 in memory of Ann Collins.
