Brian Lynn, the son of Fred and Gladys (Kobriger) Wilker, was born April 4, 1968, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville. He was baptized in the hospital shortly after his birth. Brian lived at home for the first six years of his life. He then moved to Hills and Dales Child Development Center in Dubuque for several years. For the past 26 years Brian has been a resident of the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond in Belmond.
Brian loved listening to country and polka music as long as the bass was loud. He loved the sound of loud race cars because he could feel the vibrations. Brian had a hearty laugh and a highlight in his life was being the best man for Scott and Monica Salwalke’s wedding.
Even though Brian had multiple handicaps, he was a true fighter. He showed it by proving the doctors wrong. They predicted he would not live to be 20 and he made it to 49 years. Brian also participated in the Special Olympics and won many medals and ribbons.
Brian had a special connection with his Grandma Wilker; now they have connected again and both are at peace.
Brian is survived by his parents, Fred and Gladys Wilker of Postville; two brothers, Brad (Errin) Wilker of Castalia and Brent (Tracy) Wilker of Waverly; five nieces and nephews: Bretton, Brandon, Brayden, Ella and Bryant; and his aunts and uncles: Harold (Joann) Kobriger of Forest City; DiAnn Evenson of West Union; Karen Heckmann of Oelwein; and Ken Kobriger of Bartlesville, Okla.
Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arno and Ella Wilker; and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Clara Kobriger.
