Barbara J. Folstad

Barbara J. Folstad, 75, of Hesper, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at her home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, with the Reverend Curtis Fox  officiating. Burial is in the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Barb was born March 26, 1940, in Decorah. She graduated from the Decorah High School in 1958 and then the Winona State College. She married Charles D. Folstad at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church Feb. 27, 1960. They farmed in Hesper Township. She also worked at the Skyline Supper Club, Stateline Motel and then for 31 years for Wapsi Produce in Decorah. Charles passed away Nov. 8, 1994. She was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church and WELCA, and the American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years. She enjoyed embroidering, word puzzles, cooking, sewing and quilting.
Barb is survived by six children: Paul of Waterville, Karen (Scott) Olson of Decorah, Steve of Decorah, Glenn of Burr Oak, Rodney (Jennifer) of Decorah and Lisa (Mike) Roney of Decorah; grandchildren: Cassidy Noring, Tony Olson, Tyler Olson, Courtney Olson, Jennifer Ambrosy, Brandon Ambrosy Casey Christian, Anthony Folstad, Megan Fenton, Schanda Roney and Katrina Roney; great-grandchildren: Aubry Noring, Jake Noring and Brenton Cole; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruby (Koenig) Rehwinkel; and her husband, Charles.
