Arnold Joseph Strnad

Arnold Joseph Strnad, 77, of Le Sueur, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur. Mass of Christian Memorial was at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. K.C. rosary was at 9:45 a.m., with visitation following one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to Le Sueur Hospice.

He was born Dec. 9, 1938, in Cresco, to Joseph and Irene (Vsetecka) Strnad. He graduated from Rudolphinum High School in Protivin. After spending three years in the U.S. Army he graduated from Iowa State University. He worked for the John Deere Company in Moline, Ill., then both for the Green Giant and Pillsbury companies in Le Sueur. During his career he lived in Salisbury, Md., Capitola, Calif. and in Plymouth, Minn. He obtained his MBA from St. Thomas University in 1999. Arnold spent eight years in Bella Vista, Ark. in his early retirement. He returned to Le Sueur in 2008. Arnie was a devoted father, grandfather and community servant. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Lion’s Club, Le Sueur Hospice, Habitat for Humanity and in his church ushering and volunteering. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bridge, tractor shows and serving his community.

He is survived by his children, Sally (Scott) Platt of Maple Grove, Joe Strnad of Le Sueur, Nancy Wilder of Minneapolis and Tom Strnad of Denver; two grandchildren, Hannah Vogel and Ellis Bergeth and siblings, James (Liz) Strnad of Plover, Wis. and Donna (Lyle) Dietzenbach of Protivin.
