A Decorah man facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, has entered a plea of not guilty.

An attorney for 22-year-old Hunter Thomas Youngblood entered the plea earlier this month. Youngblood was charged with harassment, willful injury, domestic abuse/assault, assault causing bodily injury and attempted murder following an incident which took place the evening of Saturday, Sept. 21 in the 2500 block of 170th Avenue in the unincorporated community of Freeport.

Criminal complaints filed against the 22-year-old outlined multiple offenses which were alleged to have taken place that evening. Court filings claim Youngblood struck a woman — described as Youngblood’s domestic partner — in the face and upper body several times while they were traveling together in a vehicle along Highway 52. The victim’s mother confronted Youngblood about her daughter’s injuries after the two arrived at the Freeport residence, according to court filings. The complaint alleges Youngblood then began strangling the initial victim’s mother on the couch while threatening to kill her.
