Winneshiek County Pheasants Forever banquet to be held April 5

The local Winneshiek County chapter of Pheasants Forever will hold its annual banquet Saturday, April 5 at Pinters. Doors will open at 5 p.m.that day, supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. and auctions will follow. Organizers said the event is a funding mechanism for the land management, conservation work and cost share efforts the group will carry out during the next year. More than 400 people are expected to attend the event, which includes a prime rib supper catered by U2BBQ, games for youth and adults, and number of live and silent auctions featuring local art, guns, kayaks, furniture and custom-crafted items.

All of the money raised at the banquet event will help fund local land projects. Plantings supported by the chapter include native grasses and forb — or flower — add-on mixes. Organizers said these modifications also extend the season for pollinators, increase diversity and improve habitat for all wildlife species. The plantings also establish deep roots, which allows them to hold the soil well as an effective means to slow water, bolstering water quality and flood water management.

2025 marks the 39th year for the local chapter, and for the first time, the registration for the annual banquet is available online. Attendees can visit the online portal at events.pheasantsforever.org and enter “Winneshiek County” in the search bar or contact a Pheasants Forever board director. The event is open to all members of the public who wish to support the local chapter and their work to conserve wildlife through habitat improvement, public awareness and land management programs.
