‘Wild Foraging’ at Lake Meyer April 25

Forage for wild edible plants with Winneshiek County Conservation naturalists at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Lake Meyer Park & Campground.

The foraging hike will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m., departing from the campground shelter to explore the trails around Lake Meyer. After the hike, those attending will bring their “finds” back to the shelter to cook and taste-test.

The event is free and open to all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. The trails at Lake Meyer are unpaved and may be slippery. Participants should wear clothes and shoes appropriate for a muddy trail.

Registration is required. Call the Winneshiek County Conservation office at (563) 534-7145 to let organizers know of those planning to attend. The meeting place is the Lake Meyer Campground shelter at 5:30 p.m. for this event.

In case of poor weather conditions, watch the Winneshiek County Conservation website, www.winneshiekwild.com, for any changes in plans.
