The 17th annual Military Ball is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at the Fest Building in Spring Grove, Minn.
The annual event honors all military personnel who have served the country – past and current – and from every aspect of the military, as well as their spouses and families. It is also open to those who support the military or anyone who wishes to attend.
The Military Ball includes dinner, ceremony, entertainment, displays, photo portraits, and more.
In past years, attendees have come from a wide range of the tri-state area, and several have come from farther away. Orgnaizers said the attire for the ball is Sunday best, semi-formal or formal, with many wearing their military uniform or the uniform of a veteran’s organization. They request no casual street clothes.
Cost for the evening is $30 per person. Attendance is by RSVP only.
Cocktails and photos begin at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:45 p.m. The dinner plate includes pork and chicken. At this writing, a guest speaker is yet to be decided. Following the program, dancing will be from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Cheers Big Band from La Crosse, Wis., will be returning by popular demand. The 9-piece group provides a wide variety of music for dancing and listening pleasure.
This Military Ball is planned and carried out by a committee of volunteers from American Legion Posts in the area, including: Randy Denstad, Arlyn Pohlman and Lucille Lemke of the Caledonia Post; John Geiwitz of the Houston Post; Gary and Jan Lee Buxengard, Fordyce and Marge Brevig, Nancy Dahl and Kathy Schiessler of the Spring Grove Post. Invitations will be mailed in mid-March. To be added to the mailing list for an invitation, contact Gary Buxengard at 507-498-3461 or janleebuxengard@gmail.com.
