Spooky Stories to Tell in the Driftless — Audio Edition

Episode 1: For this first episode of the audio edition of Spooky Stories to Tell in the Driftless, we are reading “Henry, The Unfortunate Third Child” which was written by Naomi Pedlar of Decorah. This story was our first place winner in Youth Fiction and tells the tale of a young boy who loves to listen to spooky stories from his grandmother.

Or so he thinks they’re stories…

 

Episode 2: In our second episode, Connor reads “The Hunt”, written by Carson Bohner of Decorah. This story was our second place winner in Youth Fiction, and it is the story of a man and his dog going for a hunt in the woods.

Little do they know, something else is also going hunting…

 

Episode 3: In this episode, guest reader Olivia Martinez thrills us with “Sleep Paralysis”, the original story written by Briana Burke of Decorah. Our first place story for Adult Fiction, this story is a bout a man who suffers from a sleep disorder.

Or is it something more?

 

Episode 4: This time, Connor reads “Murderer”, our second place story in Adult Fiction, written by Lexi Stammeyer of Decorah. In this story, the main character attempts to live with the guilt of past choices.

“Attempts to live” is the key phrase there…

 

Episode 5: This episode features Connor reading of the original story “Bluegrass” written by Anastasia Baldus of Charles City. Our third place story in Adult Fiction, this tale is about two siblings who go down to a local lake and meet a friend.

But, you shouldn’t trust everyone you meet…

 

Episode 6: In this episode, Connor reads “Forgive Me”, the third place story in our Youth Fiction category. “Forgive Me” was written by Olivia Quam of Decorah, and tells the story of a strange creature and an unfortunate victim.

 

Episode 7: This time, our guest reader Olivia Martinez reads “Our Little Girl”, written by Aaron Trezona. “Our Little Girl” was our first place winner in Adult Non-Fiction, and it tells the true story of a man and his wife that move into a haunted farmhouse.

Have you ever made friends with a ghost?

 

Episode 8: In this episode, guest reader Olivia Martinez reads “Mrs. Bosso”, written by Winifred Eiken. This story was an honorable mention in the adult non-fiction, and the staff at Driftless Multimedia chose to read this story because of the background to it. This tale is the true story of the previous resident of a home that isn’t quite ready to leave yet…

 

Episode 9: For our penultimate episode, Connor reads the second place winner in Adult Non-Fiction, “The Electrician”. This story was written by Sean Singewald, and is about his experience moving to a new house and having trouble with a tricky lightbulb.

And then, they got a little bit of help…

 

Episode 10: In our final episode, Connor reads “The Driftless Drifter”, our third place winner in Adult Non-Fiction. Written by Julia Wall, this story is about her memory of driving around the countryside and asking a stranger for directions.

Then, the stranger gets lost too…
