Jason Fairchild, age 50, of Luana was arrested and booked into the Winnesheik County Jail at approximately 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 on an arrest warrant for felony theft as well as an arrest warrant for violation of probation.
Ryan Kuhn, age 21, of Calmar turned himself in to the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 and was arrested on a warrant for violating requirements of the sex offender registry — first offense.
Maxwell Brauer, age 42, was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 to serve seven consecutive days.
Daniel Kauffman Jr., age 30, of Cresco was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence — second offense — at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21 along Highway 139 in northwest Winneshiek County. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Highway 139 and 315th Street. Kauffman was determined to be the driver and his blood alcohol concentration was found to be over the legal limit to operate a vehicle in Iowa, according to information from the sheriff’s office. Kauffman was uninjured, according to the sheriff’s office, and he was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22.
No injuries were reported after a collision in Calmar last week. Information from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said 81-year-old Ruth Ann Bily of Calmar was driving a 2022 Ford Edge south along Maryville Street in Calmar shortly before noon on Thursday, Jan. 23. Bily began to turn left onto South Street without yielding to an oncoming 2018 Ford F150 driven by 20-year-old Alexandra Kathryn Irwin of Decorah. The two vehicles collided, causing an estimated $9,500 in damage to the F150 and about $9,900 in damage to the Edge. Bily was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.
No injuries were reported after a semi collided with another truck south of Festina last week. Information from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said 61-year-old John Charles Meyer of Rollingstone, Minnesota, was driving a 2012 International 7000 south along Highway 150 the morning of Jan. 24. The sheriff’s report said Meyer began to turn left onto 110th Street without realizing a 2019 Freightliner driven by 34-year-old Donald Peter Mammoser of Hamlet, Indiana, was attempting to pass in the passing zone. The sheriff’s report said the collision was unavoidable. An estimated $15,000 in damage was reported to the Freightliner, and the semi’s side fuel tank was also punctured, according to information from the sheriff’s office. Damage to the International was estimated at $10,000. The sheriff’s report did not list a citation against either driver.
Jason Loftsgard, age 37, was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 to serve seven consecutive days.
Brian Yetter, age 45, of Decorah was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 on an arrest warrant for failure to sever jail time.
Andrew S. Martin, age 33, of Spillville was charged with domestic abuse/assault, driving while license denied or revoked and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 near the Pizza Hut in Decorah. Criminal complaints in the case said the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic abuse situation at that location and learned Martin and the victim had been in a verbal dispute at their residence in Spillville — the victim said Martin may have contacted her shoulder incidentally during the dispute. The two then left together in a vehicle and Martin allegedly turned off the vehicle twice while it was in motion along a public road, causing the victim fear, according to the report. Martin left the Pizza Hut in the vehicle, and did not have permission from the vehicle’s owner to drive it. He and the vehicle were located in Spillville approximately three hours later. He was arrested was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail.
Justin David Thompson, age 47, of Sergeant Bluff was charged with third-degree sexual abuse of a child — first offense — following an investigation by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office. A criminal complaint filed in the case said a 14-year-old disclosed to staff at MercyOne Child Advocacy Center she had been sexually assaulted on a rural Winneshiek County property during the summer of 2022. The sheriff’s office identified Thompson as the suspect and conducted an investigation with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. Thompson was initially arrested and booked into the Woodbury County Jail and posted a $10,000 bond before being transported to Winneshiek County.
All people listed may face charges and should be presumed innocent until their case is reviewed through the legal process.
