Reports from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office

A driver from Iron River, Wisconsin, was suspected of having serious injuries after avoiding a deer earlier this month along Middle Calmar Road. A report from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said 60-year-old Alan Dean Zidlicky was traveling south along the road, and a deer was in the roadway as his 2014 Ford Explorer came around a corner near the intersection of Middle Ossian Road. Zidlicky entered the northern ditch and struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to overturn and roll, according to the report. The Explorer came to rest on its passenger side, and the driver was extricated by the Decorah Fire Department before being taken to the Winneshiek County Emergency Room — he was later airlifted to another facility, according to the report. Damage to the Explorer was listed at $15,000.

A Decorah man was cited with failure to provide proof of financial liability after leaving the scene of a collision. A report from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said 53-year-old Guy Skylar Spores was traveling north along Stone Hill Road in a 1983 Chevrolet K10 when a 2008 Volkswagon Jetta driven by 34-year-old Justin Andrew Leppert of Lansing slowed down to turn left into a driveway. Spores’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of the Volkswagon. The sheriff’s report said Spores told law enforcement he was attempting to pass and denied Leppert had used his turn signal — the report noted Stone Hill Road is a gravel road and becomes dusty during dry conditions. The report said Spores left the scene before exchanging insurance information. Neither driver reported injuries. Damage to the K10 was estimated at $2,000. Damage to the Jetta was estimated at $4,500.

Aaron Anthony Anderson, age 53, Chester was charged with violation of a no contact order, operating while intoxicated — first offense — and failure to maintain control at approximately 7:49 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12. A report from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said Anderson was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo west along 337th Street and lost control while negotiating a curve in the road. The vehicle entered the southeastern ditch, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage. Law enforcement learned Anderson was barred from having contact with a passenger in the vehicle who was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Anderson was also suspected of having minor injuries and was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail at 11:30 p.m. the same day.

An Ossian man was cited after striking a parked vehicle Friday, Oct. 11. A report from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Bradyn Lloyd Hageman was traveling east along West Main Street in Ossian around 7:18 p.m. that day when his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado struck a 2017 Ford F35. The sheriff’s report said Hageman claimed he was using his phone and had drifted out of his lane. Damage to the Silverado was estimated at $10,000, while damage to the F35 was estimated at $6,000.

All people listed may face charges and should be presumed innocent until their case is reviewed through the legal process.
