Decorah Police were dispatched to Kwik Star on Short Street for a male sleeping in the men’s bathroom June 22. He was identified as 34-year-old Justin Bigler of Dorchester. He was arrested for public intoxication.

Winneshiek Sheriff

A search warrant was executed at a residence on Julian Street in Decorah at 4:39 p.m. June 14 as part of an ongoing investigation by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office. As a result, 35-year-old Logan Clements of Decorah was arrested and charged with D felony-controlled substance violation, two counts of aggravated misdemeanor possession of controlled substance, third or subsequent, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clements was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Decorah Police Department. This is an ongoing investigation with additional charges pending.

Justo Lopez, age 57, of Decorah, was cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability, failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license after an accident June 19 on Whitetail Road in rural Decorah. Investigating officers report Lopez was traveling east on Whitetail Road. The vehicle he was operating went off the road on the north side, hitting a wrap-around driveway at 1774 Whitetail Road and going over the west side of the driveway, landing on the ground and striking a utility pole. The driver advised that his vehicle shut off, and he lost the power steering, causing him to lose control. Damages totaled $8,000 to Lopez’s 2006 Jeep Commander and $2,000 to a utility pole owned by Alliant Energy.
