Decorah Police
Decorah Police officers were dispatched to Olsen Hall on the Luther College campus Oct. 24 at 11:15 p.m. for the smell of marijuana. After investigating the incident, Kyra Stone, 20, of Wisconsin was issued a citation for a summons to appear for possession of marijuana.
Decorah Police arrested Austin Larson, 19, of Chaska, Minn., for public intoxication and providing false information Oct. 30 at 12:56 a.m. in the alley behind Corner Bar.
Decorah Police have released details of a September incident. On Sept. 30 at approximately 7 p.m., the Decorah Police Department responded to a theft from Walmart. The suspect was gone when police arrived, but was later identified as Benjamin McAllen, 43, of Arlington, who has been charged and summoned to appear for theft in the 5th degree.
Winneshiek County Sheriff
Edwin Teleguario Sipac, 36, of Decorah, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail Sunday, Oct. 31, at 11:44 p.m., on Highway 9 in Frankville Township for operating while under the influence.
Jason Borsheim, 41, of Calmar, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11:42 p.m., in Calmar for D felony, operating while under the influence, 3rd offense.
Daniel Cervantes, 20, of Black River Falls, Wis., was cited for operating while under the influence, 1st offense and following too closely following an accident Saturday, Nov. 6, at 9:28 a.m., on County Road W14. Donald Fisher, 74, of Lawler, was stopped and facing south waiting for a northbound truck to go past before making a left-hand turn heading east. Cervantes came up behind and hit Fisher’s vehicle. After the impact, Cervantes’s vehicle ended up in the east ditch with both airbags deployed and major front-end damage to the pickup.
Briar Tigges, 18, of Calmar, was cited for failure to maintain control following an accident Sunday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m., on County Road W14 near Fort Atkinson. The driver was heading east on W14 when he lost control and entered the south ditch where the vehicle came to rest on the passenger side. The driver and a female passenger were wearing seat belts and were not injured. Approximate damage to the vehicle was $4,000. They were not at the scene when the call came in to the law enforcement center.
Austin Keck, 24, of Fort Atkinson, was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail Sunday, Nov. 7, at 3:23 a.m. in Fort Atkinson for aggravated misdemeanor – operating while under the influence 2nd offense.
Jesse Fischer, 49, of West Union was charged following an accident Wednesday, Nov. 3, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Highway 24. He reportedly lost control of his vehicle on the roadway possibly to avoid an object, sending the vehicle into a skid. The vehicle rolled, smashing the cab. The vehicle was totaled. Investigators said Fischer left the scene injured. He later admitted he was the driver, after denying it. He was cited for failure to maintain control and no valid driver’s license.
