’12 Angry Men’ auditions August 30-31

Auditions for the New Minowa Players 2024 Creative Venture, “Twelve Angry Men”, will be held Friday, Aug. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Minowa Players Theatre, 906 South Mill Street, Decorah.

Nearly 23,000 disabled or otherwise impaired adults are under guardianship and conservatorship in Iowa, but only five organizations are available to help them. Guardians of Northeast Iowa is one of those agencies, and last week, the 501c3 nonprofit moved from Calmar to Suite 5 at 110 Washington St., Decorah, so it can better accomplish its mission of protecting and serving the state’s most vulnerable residents.

The Lawn Chair Night Series is a free, family-friendly event during the summer months. The concerts are held either at the courthouse square or on Washington Street.

A sledge hammer and a copy of some blueprints met to form a metaphor outside Luther College’s Gerdin Fieldhouse for Athletics and Wellness last week. The “wall-breaking ceremony” marked the launch of renovations to the building. College officials expected construction to begin Monday, with hopes the first three phases of the $24 million project will be complete by next fall — the fourth and final phase will focus on the addition of a wrestling wing.
