The New Minowa Players (NMP) recently announced they are now accepting director proposals for the 2025-26 season, which marks the community theatre group’s 50th anniversary. According to a NMP spokesperson, this milestone season promises an exciting lineup of productions, offering diverse opportunities for directors to bring their creative visions to life alongside passionate performers and production teams.
Deadline for Director Proposals
Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 31, 2025. Directors can apply through NMP’s online submission portal. Alternatively, completed applications may be mailed to New Minowa Players, 906 S. Mill Street, PO Box 321, Decorah, IA 52101 or emailed to newminowaplayers@gmail.com.
A Season of Opportunities
The 2025-26 season offers six unique production slots, providing a variety of theatrical opportunities for
directors of all experience levels.
● Young People’s Production (Early August 2025): An ideal opportunity for young directors
(priority given to high school and college-age applicants) to lead a team of junior high through
college-age actors in a production that celebrates creativity and collaboration.
● Children’s Show (Late October 2025): Showcase the talents of younger actors (ages 5 through
8th grade) and inspire a love for the performing arts in this family-friendly production.
● Creative Venture (Early November 2025): Perfect for out-of-the-box thinkers! Past ventures have
included cabaret-style performances, projects in unique venues, and thought-provoking straight
plays. Directors have the freedom to bring bold and imaginative ideas to life, as long as the
production is a live theatrical performance.
● Family Show (Last two weekends of January 2026): Create a heartwarming production that
brings families together. This winter production typically features roles for both adults and
younger performers, offering a family-friendly experience for audiences.
● Spring Show (Late March/Early April 2026): Open to all-adult performers, this slot welcomes
musicals or plays, providing directors with the chance to lead a dynamic and versatile cast.
● Summer Musical (Last full weekend of June 2026): End the season with a bang in this large-scale
musical production, performed at the Decorah High School Auditorium. Directors can collaborate
with a full production team to stage an unforgettable show.
Golden Anniversary
The 50th anniversary season of the New Minowa Players is a tribute to five decades of community-driven theater. Directors have the opportunity to create productions that not only spotlight their artistic talents but also honor the legacy and vision of NMP.
