Music students participate in state large group fest

The DHS music department students earned ratings at the state large group music fest May 7.

The Decorah High School Music Department recently participated in the annual State Large Group Music Festival on Friday, May 7 at Decorah High School.
This is an adjudicated festival in which bands, choirs, and orchestras perform for a panel of three judges and receive one of five divisional ratings for their performance: Division I “Superior” rating, Division II “Excellent” rating, Division III “Good” rating, Division IV “Fair” rating, Division V “Poor” rating.
The ratings are based on a point scale. Results for DHS were as follows: Symphonic Band received a Division II rating, Wind Ensemble a Division II rating, Ninth Grade Choir a Division II rating, Viking Chorus a Division I rating, Concert Choir a Division I rating with three perfect scores, Philharmonia a Division II rating, and Symphony Strings a Division II rating.
