A motion for a temporary injunction against the company constructing a biodigester facility near Ridgeway has been denied.

District Court Judge Laura Parrish denied the injunction request on March 20 — just three days after Novilla RNG, LLC filed its resistance to a previous request from the Driftless Water Defenders, asking for a temporary injunction which might have halted construction at the future site of the proposed facility — the proposed biodigester is expected to be located near the intersection of 275th Street and Iowa Highway 9 between Ridgeway and Cresco.

A biodigester contains microorganisms which break down manure in an oxygen-free environment, producing renewable natural gas, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The facilities are also sometimes called anaerobic digestion systems or anaerobic digesters.
