The 23rd annual “Home for Christmas” Decorah Chorale concert will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church.
This benefit concert will support the work of Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity and Decorah Community Food Pantry through the concert free-will offering. Chorale concert-goers have generously donated nearly $42,000 since 2000 to local charitable organizations.
The one-hour concert will feature Christmas favorites such as “Angels We Have Heard on High”, “Away in a Manger”, “In the Bleak Midwinter”, “Carol of the Bells” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”, amongst other seasonal pieces.
Collaborative guest artists joining the Chorale are Melissa Bills, Chris Hadley, Loren Hendrickson, Craig Hultgren, Sarah Kowitz, Ben Kratchmer, Alex McGohan Paige Richards and Nicholas Shaneyfelt. The Decorah High School Madrigal Singers will share Christmas carols as prelude to the concert.
The concert is free to all. A free-will offering will be taken during the concert.
The Decorah Chorale is a mixed choral ensemble from Decorah and six surrounding Iowa communities. The group rehearses Sunday evenings beginning in late August and continuing through April, with several weeks off around the holidays.
