Local manufacturer Gemini Inc. awarded two Decorah High School students, Justin Berlage and Diep Doan, both Decorah High School graduating seniors, with a $100,000 Gemini Scholarship through the Frederick M & Siri J Oss Foundation.
The scholarship is given to one or two students per year pursuing four-year Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Aerospace, Computer Science, or Civil Engineering degrees. The school must have graduate engineering programs and be rated by the US News & World Report in the top 40 of schools in the United States for Engineering Undergraduate programs at the time the students are accepted to the University. Students also must have ACT scores more than 28, in particular on Math/Science with outstanding high school grades and extra-curricular activities to be eligible for the scholarship.
Today at 2 p.m., the students were notified, with their families present, of their scholarship award by Gemini Director of Engineer Tom Toland, and Decorah’s Director of Talent Management, Lindsey Moellers at the Decorah High School office.
Gemini will have representatives at the school’s May 10 scholarship award ceremony to present the students with an official scholarship certificate. This is the first time in at least eight years both scholarships have been given to students at the same school.
