The Decorah Community Food Pantry will hold its annual meeting on Monday, March 7th at 4:00 p.m. in the Spectrum Kitchen meeting room in Decorah.

The public is welcome.

A power point presentation will be presented illustrating the challenges and accomplishments of 2021 under the leadership of the former director, Carol Hemesath and assistant director, Deb Tekippe. During the pandemic an online ordering system was developed to insure clients could safely order the food they needed. The Pantry was reopened for in-person shopping in the summer. Through the months of online and in-person shopping, the Pantry provided over 215,000 pounds of food to households

There will also be a financial report from 2021. Norah Hummel, the new director will speak about her experiences from her first two months at the Pantry.

She stated, “It has been an honor and joy to transition into the role of Director of the Decorah Community Food Pantry. Everyday I see the vital role our community plays in supporting our neighbors in need. I am excited to build on the strong work of past leadership and move our mission forward to fight food insecurity in our region.”

The power point presentation will highlight a few of the donors who have generously supported the Pantry and also a few of the almost 100 volunteers. Volunteers are critical to the operation of the Pantry and those attending will be recognized and provided an opportunity to make comments and ask questions.
