At their Monday, March 1 meeting the Decorah City Council passed Resolution 3171, approving the Dry Run Park project. Wicks Construction was the sole bidder and large portions of the $168,000 project were raised by businesses and community members. Dry Run Plaza Park was designed as a pocket park at the east end of the downtown business district at the intersection of East Water Street and Riverside Avenue.
“This an excellent example of public/private partnerships,” said Council Member Andy Carlson.
In other business, the council voted approved Resolution 3170, awarding the bid for the Pole Line Road bridge reconstruction project to Skyline Construction. The bid was for $1,101,636.00. Funds from the Department of Transportation (DOT) will cover 80% of the costs, with the city funding the remainder. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
