Discovery Camps registration opening next month

Registration for Winneshiek County Conservation’s Discovery Camps will begin April 1. Discovery Camps are four-day opportunities for students entering grades one through nine to get hands-on outdoor experiences while experience the natural world. Each week, campers will participate in daily activities designed to engage them in discovery-oriented learning while connecting to nature, gaining new skills, meeting new friends and making memories. Three camps will be offered in June of 2025.
Wild Wonderers, which is for students entering grades one through three, will take place June 9-12 and be based out of Whalen Cabin near Phelps Park in Decorah. Adventurers, which is for students entering grades four through six, will be held June 16-19 at Lake Meyer Park and Campground near Calmar. Explorers, which is for students entering grades seven through nine, will be offered June 23-26 at Lake Meyer Park and Campground.
Each camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each camp will cost $120 per student to cover material costs. Partial scholarships are available based on financial need.
The deadline to register for one of the camps is 4 p.m. Friday, May 2. To learn more about Discovery Camps and register online, visit winneshiekwild.com/discovery-camp or email education@winneshiekwild.com.
