Decorah School District encouraging retired educators to rejoin workforce

By Roz Weis,

In a continuing effort to attract teachers, the Decorah Community School District now plans to offer full insurance benefits to teachers returning from retirement.

The Decorah School Board took action Monday afternoon and unanimously voted to approve a memorandum of understanding between the Decorah District and the Decorah Education Association to establish the agreement regarding insurance benefits for retired teachers who return to work for the district.

A retired teacher returning as a certified teacher will be eligible for district-paid single insurance coverage if the individual has previously completed at least 25 years of service between Decorah Community School District and/or the North Winneshiek Community School District.
