The 2023 Decorah Holiday theme is “Let it Snow”. This theme will be used during the holiday shopping season, including the Countdown to Christmas promotion and the Water Street Lighted Parade, scheduled Dec. 8.
The promotional Countdown to Christmas started on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, and runs through Friday, Dec. 22. For every $25 spent at participating Decorah Area Chamber retail locations, shoppers will be entered for a chance to win one of 16 gift bags. Four winners will be drawn each Friday afternoon in December.
The annual Water Street Lighted Holiday Parade will be held Friday, Dec. 8, using the theme, “Let It Snow”. The parade will begin at 6 p.m., and travel from the east side of Water Street to the intersection of Water and Mill Streets. Registration to be included in the parade is open until Thursday, Dec. 7, and is available through the Chamber website, decorahareachamber.com/event/lighted-holiday-parade.
Santa Claus will be the Grand Finale of the parade, and will be at T-Bock’s Sports Bar & Grill’s second floor immediately following the parade for photos and festivities. Warm drinks and refreshments will be available, and photographs by Nick Chill will be available, free of charge, for download after the event.
“We are proud to promote local shopping and area events. The parade, the street decor and rooftop lights, and festive storefronts are just a few of the things that make this time of year in Decorah extra special,” said Chamber Executive Director Jessica Rilling. “Our area businesses work hard to provide a magical experience for shoppers of all ages.”
