Decorah Community School District (DCSD) has selected Emergent Architects as the architectural firm for construction of a proposed new elementary school to replace John Cline School.
The Board met in special session Wednesday, March 1, at 5 p.m. to make their decision, after interviewing the top three finalists on Feb. 22.
The other firms interviewed were Invision and SVPA Architects.
Emergent has worked on projects in Decorah and at other area Iowa schools. Emergent has offices in Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls and in Omaha, Neb.
The approval of Emergent is the first in several steps moving closer to the plan to replace John Cline Elementary School, which currently houses preschool through second grade students. The current John Cline School was built in 1963.
