DCSD board meetings now broadcast on YouTube

The school board voted to increase remote access last month after considering a petition from residents requesting expanded online meeting availability for public viewing.

The Monday, Jan. 9, Decorah Community School District (DCSD) Board of Directors meeting will be presented live on the school’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@DecorahTV beginning at 5:30 p.m. In the future, meetings will be broadcast live and can also be viewed in the channel’s archives after the broadcast.
The school board voted to increase remote access last month after considering a petition from residents requesting expanded online meeting availability for public viewing.
The 175-signature petition presented by Decorah’s Carol Dowe in November requested improved sound equipment and online recording and/or virtual access to school board meetings.
Dowe cited the keen interest seniors and elderly have in school board activities. “We have grandchildren and children attending the Decorah Public Schools,” she stated. “And many of our people are senior, elderly and just cannot drive in the night.”
Dowe continued, “As I spoke with residents, they shared they would appreciate having the ability to view school board meetings at more convenient times.”
