The Winneshiek County Fair Board is notifying the public of several increased safety, security and alcohol enforcement measures being implemented at this year’s 2024 Winneshiek County Fair.
According to a news release, these new measures are a joint effort and partnership with the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, Decorah Police Department, Winneshiek County Emergency Management and Winneshiek County Fair Board to ensure the fair remains a safe and family friendly event for all to come out and enjoy.
Some of the new measures being taken will be only allowing clear (see-through) bags in the grandstand event areas (so that contents can be easily seen), and all beverages during the grandstand events will have to be purchased in the grandstand event area (no outside receptacles will be allowed in).
In addition, there will be a limit on the number of alcoholic beverages per person that can be possessed at one time, as well as discontinuing the sale of coolers during grandstand events. These just highlight a few of the new measures and changes set to be in place during this year’s fair.
Representatives of the organizations remind the public that the Winneshiek County Fair Board and Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office continue to be committed to a safe and enjoyable experience for all to take in.
