Burning Bright concerts in 25th year; benefit event here Dec. 16

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Burning Bright Winter Benefit concerts.
This year’s concerts are on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Oneota Community Coop and also at the door.
The title of this year’s event is “Beneath the Shining Star”, based on lyrics from a joyful Swedish folk song to be performed by the full group.
The Burning Bright choir, under the direction of Kathy Reed, will sing lesser known carols and folk tunes, many of them favorites from past years of Burning Bright.
Choir members are David Faldet, Evan Meyer, Dale Kittleson, Brennan Allsworth, Lor Miller, Aya Hawthorne, Kathy Reed; Matt Spencer, Carl Peterson, Tom Misseldine, Randi Berg, Sue Otte, Ellen Rockne; Dave Lenth, Sarah Frydenlund, Ezra Harman, Andrew Wood, Sheryl Scheffert, Karen Esterl, Karen Misseldine, Melissa Koch; Joy Conrad, James Ulring, Sarah McGee, Lydia Hayes, Elsa Johnson, Martin Klammer, Kristin Albertson, Elyse Hawthorne, Emily Young Johnson, and Elisabeth Rosales.
Along with the choir, there will be performances by instrumentalists including the popular Wall of Fiddles led by Beth Hoven Rotto and Anne Streufert, and a variety of songs by small groups of singers and instrumentalists including Namoli Brennet, Brennan Alsworth, Eden Ehm, Rob Hervey, Jon Rotto, and Laura Barlament.  A group of children will lead off the concert in a special way.
All proceeds from the concert will go to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Immigration Assistance Microloan Program, and the Decorah Community Food Pantry.

Event organizers invite the public to come enjoy a cozy night of music to warm you in the cold and brighten a dark winter night.
