Arthaus seeks creative artists

ArtHaus in Decorah invites creators of all genres and ages to participate in the upcoming Community Art Showcase, running Feb. 2-29, an Emerging Artists Exhibition in the spring, and the Art on Washington event in June.

This year’s Community Art Showcase theme is “Metamorphosis,” offering a creative framework for those seeking inspiration; however, artists are encouraged to feel free to go rogue and submit pieces that resonate with their own unique vision. Arthaus embraces a spirit of inclusivity, and there is no jury—every submission is valued. Fill out an application found on the Arthaus website – arthausdecorah.org.

To showcase a masterpiece, a $10 entry fee is applied to each piece, and all submitted works should be available for sale. Event organizers said ArtHaus is committed to supporting local artists and unsold pieces will be promptly returned.

The deadline to submit artwork for this showcase is Jan. 31.

Emerging Artists Exhibition

Artists ages 18-25 are eligible to submit 2D and 3D artwork for consideration in ArtHaus’ Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition in April. This juried art show is open to residents and students within a 150 mile radius of Decorah. All forms of media will be accepted including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, ceramic, fiber art, jewelry, printmaking, and photography. The Emerging Artists Exhibition (EAE) was created in 2011 to encourage and promote young artists ages 18-25 in the Driftless Region. Over a short time, this showcase has garnered attention and praise from artists and art enthusiasts alike.

Applications are submitted online. There is a $25 entrance fee to apply and artists may submit up to three works. Recipient of the Jurors’ Choice Award, as chosen by three jurors, will receive a $100 cash prize and a solo exhibition in December 2024.

The deadline to submit an application is midnight, Friday, March 1.

Art on Washington

This June, Washington Street will welcome back Decorah’s very own art festival: Art on Washington. Washington Street is home to Convergence CiderWorks, Mystic Sundog, Agora Arts, Impact Coffee, ArtHaus, and more. The festival committee is securing a date in June to host this event and your input is valued.

Any artist interested in participating and displaying a booth on Washington Street, is asked to complete the application form on the Arthaus website. The deadline to submit an application is midnight Sunday, Feb. 18. A jury will select artists from the application list and acceptance notifications will be sent in early April.
