Community Foundation awards $312,451 in 2023

The Winneshiek County Community Foundation’s 2023 annual report is now available on the Community Foundation’s website at www.winneshiekccf.org. The report highlights key impacts made and lists funds held with the Community Foundation along with grant-funded projects.

DHS Envirothon Team headed to New York after first-place finish

Two Decorah Envirothon teams recently competed in the state contest held at Jester State Park near Saylorville. Both teams had qualified for the state competition by achieving high scores at regional competition. They, along with 13 other teams from across the state, vied for the state title and a trip to the International Envirothon contest to be held in Geneva, N.Y., this year.

Home School Assisstance Program students earn awards

Orabel Ehrie celebrates 50 years at Decorah Schools

Among the guests will be Orabel Ehrie, a dedicated employee who has been a valued member of the transportation department for 50 years.

Decorah School District releases facility needs survey

Residents of the Decorah Community School District (DCSD) provided input and feedback on the proposed construction of a new school to replace John Cline Elementary School and West Side Early Childhood Center. The survey was available April 9-23 and asked a series of questions about the district’s facility needs at the elementary level and sought feedback for the Board of Education and administration as they plan next steps in the project.

Luther College President Ward announces retirement

President Jenifer K. Ward announced to the Luther College community Monday her intention to retire as president at the end of June 2025. Ward became president of Luther on July 1, 2019, and at the time of her retirement, she will have served in the role for six years.
