The South Winn girls’ basketball team (2-3, 1-2 UIC) notched a win over LeRoy-Ostrander over the weekend and collided with MFL MarMac Tuesday night.

TV boys continue to falter on the court

Turkey Valley’s start to the conference season didn’t go as planned as MFL MarMac and Kee High both came away with comfortable wins over the Trojans during the first week of the season a week ago, as did New Hampton in non-conference action.
TV (0-3, 0-2 UIC) had not played a home game yet this year prior to the home contest that was played this Tuesday versus Central Elkader.

The Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (2-2, 2-1 UIC) came up with a big road win over defending UIC champ MFL MarMac last Tuesday in Monona by a score of 45-40 before falling to Kee and New Hampton.

With years of coaching experience, South Winn head girls’ wrestling head Coach Ethan Adams is looking forward to seeing his squad grow in competitive toughness and gaining quality competitions on the mats.
Coach Adams is back at the helm for his third season with Isabel Ihde and Tayton Bullerman taking the roles of assistant coaches.

With five returning letter winners and several young players ready for their time to shine, there’s potential for a strong year for the Warriors.
Leading the squad for his third season is Derek Taylor. He will be assisted by Mitchell Herold and Logan Schweinefus.

SW girls aim to improve throughout 2024-25

A lot of scoring ability will be back on the hardwood for the South Winn girls’ basketball team for during the new season and new head coach Michael Gehling is hoping that will translate to more wins.
After serving as assistant coach the last several seasons, Gehling is no stranger to the program. Neither is his assistant Carla Nymeyer, who led the Turkey Valley girls’ team for nine seasons, which included a pair of state runner-up finishes.

Decorah girls look to capitalize on experience

Athleticism combined with the ability to push the ball and run the floor are among the list of items new Head Decorah Girls Basketball Coach Blake Moen sees at the strength for the Vikings this season.
Moen, who takes over the helm from Shannon Quandahl who led the Vikes for eight seasons, will have four returning letter winners to rely on as the season rolls with a mix of athletes who had successful junior varsity games a year ago.

Eyeing a run back to state; Viking boys strive to fill gaps

All eyes will be on the Decorah boys’ basketball team this season as the Vikings look to make a return trip to state.
The Vikes return six letter winners off a team that went all the way to the state semifinal last year.
Leading the way is head coach Jonathan Carlson, who has been leading the program for 12 seasons.

Keglers set another run at state

For the past two seasons the Decorah girls’ and boys’ bowling teams have grown to be among the best in the state, not only qualifying for the state tournament but finishing in the top eight in Class 2A.
Keith Bruening continues to lead the programs since its organization in 2016, as he has with former Viking kegler Michael Bruening acting as his assistant.
