Vikes stand atop North Central Conference

Teams of the North Central Conference were finally granted a warm, calm day at Luther College Wednesday for the annual conference tournament.

Warriors, Trojans shine at UIC meet Thursday in Calmar

The postseason ramped up with the Upper Iowa Conference track and field meet hosted by South Winn Thursday. At the end of the night, it was the Warrior girls rising to the top of the team standings with 184.5 points. Turkey Valley finished with 69 points in fifth place.
For the boys it was MFL MarMac claiming the UIC title with 171 points. North Fayette Valley was the runner-up with 145, while South Winn was third with 144. The Trojans collected 33 points for eighth place.

Viking harriers reign supreme at NEIC meet

Many things were in the athletes’ favor Thursday as the Decorah girls’ and boys’ track teams dominated the Charles City track at the Northeast Iowa Conference meet.
Combined with near perfect weather conditions, the Vikings snared both titles. The boys’ collected first with 194 points over Waverly-Shell Rock who came through with 137. For the girls, Decorah easily wrapped up the team title with 185 points with Crestwood finishing a distant second with 96.

 

No. 4 Vikes shut out teams at W-SR tourney

The Decorah boys’ soccer team (12-3) showcased its strength on the pitch Saturday, winning a pair of matches at the Waverly-Shell Rock tournament.

Area athletes shine bright at SW Invite

Wrapping up the regular season, teams from northeast Iowa invaded Calmar Monday to compete in the South Winn Invite.
The hosts Warrior boys won the team title with 148 points over Charles City. The Decorah junior varsity took third with 111 points. With only handful of competitors, Turkey Valley tallied 40 points to take sixth.
It was Crestwood winning the girls’ title with 154 points over Charles City who had 121. South Winn claimed third with 114 with Decorah taking home fifth with 47 points followed by the Lady Trojans with 38.

Decorah High School’s Dakota Johnson has been selected to play in this year’s esteemed Iowa Shrine Bowl lineup.

Five in a row for Viking boys

Since the beginning of the North Central Conference tennis meet five years ago, no other team besides seventh-ranked Decorah has taken the title as the Vikings dominated the courts in Grinnell Monday.
With 48 points, Decorah edged No. 5 Waverly-Shell Rock for the conference title, to go with the crowning two singles and one doubles team champions.

Decorah boys take MFL MM title

With the team divided Monday, with some at South Winn and some at MFL MarMac, the Decorah boys’ track and field team shone bright, winning the Bulldog Invite with 212 points, well ahead of the hosts’ 138.
Decorah claimed gold in 14 of the 19 events.

Decorah girls finally get on home courts
