Hole-in-one at Oneota

The Oneota Golf and Country Club had its first hole-in-one recorded Monday by Mike Fitzgerald on hole No. 2, using a pitching wedge to sail the ball 87 yards to the cup as Pat Fitzgerald and Marcia Fox witnessed the event. It marks the golfer’s second hole-in-one which was recorded in 2015 on the same hole.

Decorah JV girls defeat Waterloo

The Decorah girls’ junior varsity soccer team continues to improve, passing and sharing the ball to create scoring opportunities in abundance. As a result, the younger Vikings put up another win, defeating the Waterloo Combined JV squad 4-0 on goals from Grace Neal (2), Mya Redenius and Thea Schissel. 

Trojans host triangular, finish in middle

The Turkey Valley Trojans hosted New Hampton and Sumner-Fred in boys’ golf on Friday, April 16, at Jackson Heights. The Trojans split as the Chickasaws won with a 177, followed by TV with a 211, and the Cougars placed third with a 225.

Rolfs to wrestle at Upper Iowa University

Decorah High School senior Jackson Rolfs has signed his national letter of intent to wrestle at Upper Iowa University in Fayette.

After a strong competition season, members of the Decorah Dolphin Gymnastics Team earned a trip to the Iowa Xcel State Championships held at Wartburg College in Waverly, March 19 – 21.   

Vikes rule Decorah Relays

In its second home meet of the year, the Decorah girls’ track and field team hosted a seven team invite Thursday night.
The Vikes controlled the meet, winning with 145 points. Dubuque Senior was second with 113. South Winn posted 43 points, good for seventh.

SW boys stay perfect, girls play short-handed

Despite the less than desirable temperatures and wind gusts, the South Winn boys’ golf team picked up a win over Postville Thursday night at Silver Springs Golf Course in Ossian.

Trojans conclude busy week

In the second meet last week, the Turkey Valley girls’ and boys’ track teams traveled to New Hampton for a co-ed eight-team invite Thursday night.
The Trojan girls finished fourth overall with 99 points, while the boys claimed 26 points in eighth place.

One-stroke victory for Lady Trojans

The Turkey Valley golf teams were back on their home course at Jackson Heights Thursday, splitting a co-ed dual with Clayton Ridge. The girls narrowly bested the Eagles by one stroke, 265 to 266, while the boys fell to the visitors, 209 to 181.

Vikes suffers first loss
