Weather changes schedules again

Mother Nature has yet again made changes to the athletic schedules for area teams.
Heavy snowfall cancelled all events for Friday, Jan. 14.

Postseason swim schedule

District assignments have been announced for the boys’ swim teams.
Decorah will compete at the Dubuque Hempstead site. Other schools there are the host, Cedar Falls, Clinton, Dubuque Senior, Iowa City City High, Iowa City West and Waterloo.

Decorah Trails Fundraiser

The Decorah Rocks group is currently selling shirts with the proceeds set to benefit the Decorah Human Powered Trails (DHPT), which maintains the trails utilized by many in northeast Iowa.

It was a good night on the hardwood for the Decorah boys’ basketball team as the Vikings (9-1, 5-0 NEIC) defeated the MFL MarMac Bulldogs (9-2, 7-0 UIC). It was no contest with Decorah winning 85-50.

The Decorah girls’ basketball team (7-4, 3-1 NEIC) rebounded from Friday’s loss to Waverly-Shell Rock by taking the 68-41 win from MFL MarMac (8-4, 8-0 UIC) at home Monday night.

Battling some adversity with four key matmen missing from the line-up, the South Winn wrestling team left Sumner with a pair of wins Tuesday night.
It was down to the wire versus IAWrestle’s No. 16 Sumner-Fred, but the Warriors pulled out the win 42-39. SW was dominant against Ed-Co, besting the Vikings 64-18.

Following a tough loss last week, the South Winn boys’ basketball team (8-4, 6-3 UIC) bounced back into the win column Tuesday over Postville (1-9, 1-8 UIC) at home, 70-41.

Hosting MFL MarMac, the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (6-4, 5-3 UIC) put every ounce of effort in Tuesday’s game, but came up short as the Bulldogs (9-4, 9-0 UIC) defeated the Trojans 49-44.
