Keglers runner-up at team conference tourney

With the regular season over it is time for the Decorah bowling teams to focus on the postseason and they got off to a good start Wednesday as the runners-up at the North Central Conference bowling tournament at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo, hosted by Columbus Catholic.

Chamberlain to represent Vikes at state meet

He’s headed to state.
Decorah swim team member Drew Chamberlain blazed his way to a spot at the state swim meet.
The senior will dive into the water in two events at state, which is Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12, at the University of Iowa Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

Vikes extend win streak, clinch NEIC title

The Class 3A No. 2 Decorah boys’ basketball team (17-1, 9-0 NEIC) has won 16 games in a row, including two victories over the weekend. With the victories the Vikings clinched their third straight Northeast Iowa Conference title.
“It’s a great accomplishment to three-peat in NEIC, but we still have unfinished business and need to keep elevating our play with each practice and or game,” said Coach Jonathan Carlson.

Decorah takes care of Indians

In it only game of the week, the Decorah girls’ basketball team (12-6, 7-1 NEIC) controlled the tempo from start to finish Friday, winning 58-35 over Waukon (11-8, 5-4 NEIC) at home.

It’s a wrap on the conference regular season after the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (14-6, 12-4 UIC) picked up a pair of wins Thursday and Friday over Kee and Postville.

At first glance, Tuesday’s contest between the Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (9-9, 7-7 UIC) and South Winn (10-9, 8-6 UIC) looked like it would come down to the wire in Jackson Junction. However, a second half stream of Trojan baskets put the game out of reach for the Warriors, 52-35.

TV girls shut down Warriors early

The South Winn girls’ basketball team (6-13, 4-11 UIC) did have an answer for the pressure put on it by Turkey Valley (12-6, 10-4) Tuesday night in Jackson Junction. Similar to the first time the two squads met, the Trojans came out on top 44-20.
