TV splits with NFV, edge Cadets

Picking up a conference split Wednesday, the Turkey Valley softball team (13-6, 10-2 UIC) remained in a tie for the Upper Iowa Conference lead and held off Crestwood in the seventh to pick up a win. Saturday’s tournament at Decorah was cancelled due to inclement weather.

South Winn claims last two games of the week

Looking to carry a win streak into the postseason this week, the South Winn baseball team (15-7, 12-3) picked up two wins last week over Postville and Sumner-Fred. The tournament at North Fayette Valley scheduled for Saturday was canceled due to rain and field conditions.

Decorah’s offense comes to play with big hits and wins

After dropping an extra-inning contest to Independence Wednesday, the Vikings tromped over Clear Lake and Waukon Thursday and Friday. The Decorah baseball team is now 15-8 overall and 14-4 in the conference.

Viking softball on five-game win streak

With three games played to conclude the week, the Decorah softball team (13-5, 8-3 NEIC) ended strong with a trio of wins. Their own tournament was cancelled due to rainy conditions Saturday.

Decorah softball sweeps Indians

It was a couple of five-inning games Tuesday night as the Decorah softball team (10-5, 6-3 NEIC) swept Waukon (5-13, 1-11 NEIC), 14-4 and 12-2.
The Vikings put up two in the first and three in the second before the Indians fought back with four in the third inning. Decorah went back to the plate in the fourth putting up three runs and capped off the game with a six-run fifth frame.

Monday, the Turkey Valley softball team (11-5, 9-1 UIC) played a doubleheader with West Central (4-15, 2-10 UIC), ending both game early with 13-1 and 24-4 scores.

Vikings drop pair to W-SR

The Decorah baseball team (16-7, 12-3 NEIC) was looking to keep its win streak going as it hosted Waverly-Shell Rock (17-6, 12-3 NEIC) Tuesday night. While both games were close, it was not meant to be as the Go-Hawks defeated the Vikings 2-0 and 10-8.
