It continues to be a see-saw of wins and losses for the Decorah football team (2-3, 0-1) as the Vikings fell to Mason City (3-2, 1-0) to open district action Friday night on the road 13-7.
“It was a very hard-fought, competitive game and we came up just short. We made many great plays, and our defense was excellent. Offensively we moved the ball well at times, but just could not come up with a score,” said Coach Pat Trewin. “We see our team as a family, we win together and lose together. We have worked very hard and will continue to do so.”

Coming off two week’s rest, the Turkey Valley football team (2-1, 1-0) was clicking on all cylinders Friday night, besting Riceville (0-5, 0-3) on the road, 62-14.
“This was a good game to come off of a week off. Some minor errors in the first quarter showed we were a little rusty from the two week layoff. But the players settled in and controlled the game after the first few minutes,” said Coach Mark Scott. “On defense, except for two plays, we dominated the Riceville offense.”
